I can take any empty space and call it a bare stage. A man walks across this empty space whilst someone else is watching him, and this is all that is needed for an act of theatre to be engaged -Peter Brook "The Empty Space" 1968

This is a sampling of the work I did as the Asst. Technical Director for The Hothouse put on by Boston University. The set was dominated by a large rotating steel monolith. I'm proud of this work not only because of the challenges overcome from building such an imposing structure but also as learning experience in working in managing and collaborating on a scenic build.

Gary E. Beisaw, Jr.

I am always amazed and excited to see a show built from the stage floor on up to completion. The satisfaction I feel from the completion of a project is not something I can really put into words. I have an intrinsic desire to create. Working in theatre gives me the opportunity to create a wide range of objects and buildings. I have a passion for acquiring new skills and I am a sponge for knowledge when I am prompted to research on a subject. My goal for any show I work on is to create a product that serves the need of the show, the functionality and comfort the actors handling it requires, and to exceed the expectations of quality expected from my fellow collaborators.
